To start
LuciteLux is a stiff thermoplastic that has a range of outstanding performance characteristics. These characteristics make is suitable for a diverse range of applications; interior design and furnishings to fashion accessories, baths and spas to corporate identity and directional signage. And as the world continues to discover the infinite possibilities of the material, so the list of applications continues to grow.
Properties and working with LuciteLux
LuciteLux cast acrylic sheet is a hard, non-porous material with excellent optical clarity - well over 90%. While being hard, it has a degree of flexibility, which designers can use to create an infinite array of shapes. Specific technical data sheets are available on request.
LuciteLux becomes soft and pliable when heated to a certain temperature. In this state, the sheet can be thermoformed to almost any shape. And when it cools, the material becomes rigid again and retains the shape to which it has been formed. LuciteLux can also be heat-bent or curved, a facet which designers use to add creativity to everyday items such as contemporary picture frames, lighting and furniture.
LuciteLux can be cut, drilled and routed with common wood working tools. The sheet is easily bonded together with strong transparent joints by mechanical or gluing methods. It is possible to bond the acrylic to metal, wood, rubber and other plastics, making an ideal partner for other materials in finished products.
High gloss, frost, textured and matte finishes are all available as part of the LuciteLux range. And the color options are endless with some being offered as marble and granite effects. LuciteLux can be painted by conventional brushing or spraying techniques. Silk-screening, pre-printing, carving, hot-stamping or engraving on the sheet surface is also possible.
The standard thickness is 5mm, however other thicknesses are available on request. Please visit www.lucitelux.com for further information, or for further assistance, please contact: Lenore Torres @ 1-800-4-LUCITE x 2287
